You have to leave the switch in the new position for it to work.

If I understand you , I am suppose to slide the switch to where the light stays off? When I slide it one way the light goes out when I slide it back the light will come back on and then start to flash on and off.                          Allen

If it is working correctly slide it till it goes off and it should flash on for a second when you start it to let you know that the light bulb is working, if it is flashing a code you have other problems, a 12 is all is good, one blink followed by two blinks.

Correct. It's like a double light switch, downstairs and upstairs, if you put the light on donwstairs it's on, but if you switch it to the other side (upstairs) it's out. Now if you put it in the position you started out downstairs its on again. Get it?
Hmmm, might be a little vague on the explanation but you got it right anyway  ;)
