Title: EFI fuel pressure????
Post by: prairie_dog on October 03, 2005, 08:57:37 PM
I asked a couple of people what the fuel pressure was in the  1.6's and got answers all over the map ???
I called the dealership, they said 35-40 psi but I question their answer cus after buying parts from them I realized the new dealer with all new staff didn't know much about zukis or cars for that matter >:(

Anyways I bought a holley inline pump says it's set for 45 psi / stalls at 90

good, bad, I don't know
some educated advice would really be helpful ??? ???

 Steve :)

I would think that would work, just mount it as close to the tank as possible and if you have a plastic fuel filter make sure it is on the sucktion side of the pump.

i got a 125psi fuel pump in my suzi but it is a bit over the top
around 45psi sounds about right the fuel regulator will be set a bit lower

IIRC 35 to 40 is quoted in the FSM as the regulated fuel pressure for the regulator. A 45psi pump should be OK, the surplus fuel will just go back to the tank.

Engine hoist for a zuk engine?   drink more beer and let the air out of the front tires you can lift it out by hand!

I put the new engine on the stand by hand, it's not that heavy but if you look at Zukipilot's poll on how tall the average zuki owner is I fall in the "stubby" catagory ;D ;D

The rental is only $25 a day so it should only cost me $12.50 right ;D

Will post pics when it's running, I painted almost everything & polished the TBI intake tube

 Steve :)
PS maybe the little saying under my info will finally come true 8) 8) 8)

I run a 1989 1.6L 8-valve in my samurai.  I used a NAPA fule pump part# TFP2P74028 (~$70).  This is same as AutoZone part# E2000 (~$99.99).  They say right on them: 90psi.  This is ok (even without a regulator) if you run your fuel return line (very important).  Good luck with everything!
ps - they're a bit noisy.  mount it in rubber and try not to mount it on the body, go for the frame.
