Hi again guys, quick question for you. im not looking to go super high and i dont do too much off roading, my tracker is a daily driver to work,i live in the poconos of pa, lots of snow, and they take forever to plow. i would like my tracker to be stable as can be as well.
How wide of wheel can i get on a tracker with a deep dish offset like say 2"?
I want the tracker to sit wide and have the tires/wheels stick out a bit without a super tall tire.
like a 235/75 Mickey baja radial stretched over a deep dish 15x8 or 10 would be cool.
Im planning a 3" body lift and 1.5" spring spacers.
Thanks for all your help again!

A 235 tire is only a bit over 9" wide so 15x10 rims are not a good choice. I think 15x8 is too wide a rim for 235's too, but could work...
I'd say either 15x8 with 3.5 or 3.75 backspacing (std size so easy to find) or perhaps a 15x7 with 2" backspacing (RRO sells custom backspace wheels, or find a local shop).
If you go too far out, then when you turn, the arc of the now extended tire can start causing rubbing problems.

15x8 will not work with 235/75
I REPEAT
15x8 will not work with 235/75
it is really way too wide I was going to do this on my Sammy, (Thanks for the bigger tires Sno)
when I got the rims the shop wouldn't mount the 235's on the 15x8's they really are about 2 inches too wide. I had them mounted on my 15x5.5 and they fit just about perfect. I would not go bigger than 15x7 with 235's
If you have a 4 wheel parts store or from http://www.4wheelparts.com you could order 15x7 with 2.5 back spacing, would make the tires stick out and should work well enough with the 235's here is a picture of 235's on 15x5.5

Hi again, can anyone steer me in the right direction of how to achieve the look im going for?
Im going to be running spring spacers and a 3" body lift, but again would like really deep dish wheels with either Mickey Baja radials or Thronbirds (thornbirds look Really cool!) in either 29x10.50's or 30x11.50's.
im looking for wide but not super tall. More Rally/Baja then rocker crawler/mud bogger.
Thanks!

If your going to run a 10.50 or 11.50 then a 15x8 wheel should be fine (I run 31x10.50's on a 15x8 rim, and even aired down, never lost a bead).
I'd say avoid the thornturd tires too ... everyone I've heard that got them, hated 'em.

If you download the following file, you will see for any size of tire what's the correct range of rim width.

As for the offset (or spacer), the only problem I think is that you stress the wheel bearings in a wrong way

I REPEAT
15x8 will not work with 235/75
I have 215/75's on cj 15x7's, the shop did it but said I shouldn't. I think it's fine. I'd say 235's will work on 15x8's. If you think about it, jeep cj's had 235's on 15x7's stock from the factory - what's another inch?
AND- I think TN_Tracker is running 235's on 15x8's. PM him for info.

Just cause info is good
In racing the wider the better as it stiffens the sidewall. In my opinion, a 235 tire on a 9"
rim is no big deal...the tire is 9.25" wide, if the tread width (235 divided by 25.4= 9") is the same or wider than the rim width (9") things should be just fine. It's what most tire guides call for.

I have 10.50's on an 8" rim and too me, the rim is too big ....
It all depends on your use ... when you air down (like to 4-8 psi), it takes a tight fit to keep from loosing a bead.
I've gone to 10psi, wheeled hard and the worst I've suffered is some rocks trying to get stuffed into the bead ... if I'd had a 7" wide rim, I woulda been fine ...
-
I guess the only way I think of useing these rigs is too beat the piss out of em. which means airing them down when you drive em.
course the tire place told me not to mount my 32x11.50's on the 5.5 inch wide rim and I did it anyway.
So like sno said 15x8 is wide unless you are using a 10.50 or wider tire.
I would go with a 29x10.5 or wider if you are just going to use it for street use only.
it also depends on the tire pressure you are going to run.
since you said you don't do much off roading it should be fine
I did not find but one tire in the 30x9.50 range.

I know swampers come small and wide though.
there's a 29x11.50 here

15 x 8's with 235's look like they work to me!  ???

looks good to me. when I made my comment I was thinking of airing down and wheeling on them. and it would come off the bead if you aired down too much.
what air pressue do you run cw?
-
anyone happen to have any guidlines on the shallowest backspacing (stick out the farthest)
and still be able to turn lock to lock?ÂÂ
The 29x11.50"s would be cool on a 8.5" rim.
that also means still good gearing on the street and if i find a trail once in a while or feel like tearing up my yard with a foot of snow will be lots of fun!
wow, they even do a 27x9.50-15"! that would look cool.

I have a 2.5" BS rim, 15x8, and run 31x11.50 Swampers. I have full turning radius, lock to lock, no rubbing at all.

Thanks for the info Chief! im thinkin ill be just fine with the 27" swampers on 15x8 2",2.5" Back with just the 3" body lift, i cant wait! its going to look tuff!
Now i just got to get the interior back in this thing and get these pink barbie stripes off the sides! hah

I run about 22psi on road and about 15 psi off road. Last time I went off road, I didn't air down at all and did just fine. The tires are incredible!

Go with the 29.11.50R15LT, that would be badass. And take pictures too. Thats a short little fat tire.
