Title: Interesting rear-end from that "Jeep Carnival" post.
Post by: ebewley on October 12, 2005, 06:29:37 AM
I noticed this rear end and thought it quite interesting. It looks like a Dana 30 center section with the same tubes and outers like we have here in the 'States.

Also, does anyone else see the angel / alien child glowing right above the right rear tire??? YIKES!

Some Aisian models have the Dana 30 as standard. ARB list it in their locker application guide.

Does anyone know what that thing is you can just see right from the pumpkin Just under the axle just above the crossmember. Looks like something chrome to me? The wires for the winch run next to it.

Air line for an ARB? Thats my guess.

You know what be be nice is if I could get the part# and order that axle for my XL-7 then I could get a locker or something  :-\

If that's actually a Dana 30, which is what it looks like to me. I'd bet that your XL7 rear end is tougher! But you're probably thinking about locker options more than strength at this point, right?

I'm at the point of getting a GV rear and swapping it with XL-7   :o and getting hardened shafts to make up for the weakness.  Not that I've thought about this at all  :P

Since you're thinking of replacing the whole unit, why not try Lincoln Locking it first to see what you think?

Wouldn't it be a Dana 35 rear?  Don't beleive I've ever ran across a Dana 30 rear in anything.  Jeeps, Fords Broncos, Scouts, etc only used them in the front that I've ever seen.

Considered a narrowed Toyota axle?

Im with Eric. I bet lincon locking it wouldnt be that bad on an Xl7 being that they are so long.

Why would suzuki use a D30 rear? If suzuki makes their own axles, why use an american axle only in an asian market? I would undersand using a Dwhatever in the states, but not in asia...

Suzuki doesn't make there own axles www.roc-spicer.com.tw (http://www.roc-spicer.com.tw) is more than likey the one they get them from.  I will let you know a little more in a day or two as I emailed them and even got a responce back  :o.  So as soon as I get a little more info.  I will pass it on to the masses.  :)

Wow, I'm really surprised at that website, blacknight... :o it does list Suzuki as one of its customers (as well as Ford and Nissan).
Maybe the "Banjo type axle" is most similar to the GV rear isn't it?

But it still seems strange to me... ::)
