does anyone know if there are different lengths of toyata truck front axles. oh ye and who is it that makes the berfield eliminaror kit.

Toyota Hilux Solid axle, pre 85 56.5", gear ratio mostly 4.10, with disc brakes.
if any one is considering an SAS check out this site.

Stock IFS on tracker is 57", toyota axle looks to be an great candidate.

they are all the same size, dont bother with the birfield eliminator. There are some real good birfields on the market now

What he said. The last couple of years for the solid axle (84-85) have extra gusseting on the housing for some more strength.

from what ive heard the 4runner axel is 3"wider than the truck axel and sky makes the bifeild eliminator kit
its the fj 80 thats wider

only the rear is wider on '86 and newer toyotas (truck and 4runners) the fronts went to IFS.
If you want to widen the front you can byuy a kit from front range off road and I think Sky MFG as well. I did a hombrew version and gained 1.5" each side. or you could just get wheel spacers.
Get longfields or smurfields and don't worry about the birfs again. I was running 37" tires, 4.3 v6 and 6-:1 gearing and once I got smurfs never broke one. Before it was pretty much break one every trip.
You can get stock gearing in toyotas to around 4.37 in the '79's for still pretty cheap.
I woiuld go toyotas as a diff swap in a heart beat.

i am planning for 37" to 40" swamper irocs with a turbo 1.6 16 valve. i will double my t-cases with stock tracker gearing and 6.5:1 in the sammi and hopefully i can run the stock 4.10s in the front yota and the rear 9". i think this should make for a very strong combo. i am also going 5 link in the fornt like in a heep and four link in the rear. i am planing on it being street legal and driving on occaision to work and what not. well thanks for the input.

Are you using an auto trans? Or a transmission from something else? Because even with a stock Sammi t-case it doesn't seem like you'd have enough gear reduction to push 40" tires :-/
