Title: Rust, Rust, and more Rust!! How to do it yourself and like it. Part 3
Post by: ghd23 on October 19, 2005, 04:47:50 PM
Ok guys here are some pix of where I'm at  now. I installed new frame work, Much better then stock. I used 1x2x 1/8 wt. tubing for this. I took 16 gauge sheet metal and broke it at 90 degrees and laid it against the trimmed down wheel well, then I traced the the outline with a paint stick and trimmed off the access with a cut off wheel and WALLA a perfect fit. After doing both sides I cut a sheet of 16 gauge for my access panel. I can now get to the gas tank and everything else without having to lay on the ground. I installed it using a piano hinge. I then drilled and tapped 1/4 inch holes and installed 1/4x20 button head bolts to secure it down.  Ok now let me try to download the pix, if ya have any questions feel free to ask. Thanks George.

Nice job! maybe you could teach "da tub" how to do stuff like that ;D ( just kidding man )

If nothing else it'll work better and faster that the factory floor drains (if you play in water that deep) J/K

 Steve :)

Yes I will do the underside with undercoating and the inside tith bedliner. Also I will shoot a product called great stuff in side some of the panels. The stuff works great. Goes in every nook and cranny. after you shoot it in it expans big time, is waterproof and fireproof.  Thanks George

ah yes the expanding foam.... yes it is  grat stuff in deed, but the down side to it is i found it holds water in its bubbles so make sure you undercoat the metal first... the foam works as a good sound deadner too..
