Just trying to get some to double check my math.
Stock Samurai gears (3.73) with 215/75R15's would almost identical to 4.30 with about a 32 inch tire. Am I correct? Or would my old math teacher shake her head. :o

the 4.62 works pretty good with a 31.

Looks like that would be about a 450 rpm difference at 65 mph. The 4.30's with 32's works out to about 300 rpm difference if my math is correct. I drive this rig 60 miles a day to and from work so I need to maintain highway drivability and the evil gas mileage figure. >:( Anybody else have some insight

With R&P 3.73, A high Range of 1.409, 5th of .795
Tire Diam 27.7" I get 3041 Rpm |removethispart|@ 60 Mph
Then with R&P of 4.3, A high Range of 1.409, 5th of .795
Tire Diam 32" I get 3034 Rpm |removethispart|@ 60 Mph.
This was done with an gearing calculator which is available online. ;)

Thanks. That confirms what I was getting. Just wanted to be sure that I was using the right formulas.

Don't forget to take into consideration rolling mass and friction. Even if you gear it to match stock, your going to lose some pep from your zuk. And when you don't have much pep to begin with, your going to want to go a little lower in the gears. ;)

4.30 would be 2/10 of one percent higher than your stock 3.73s. ( 4.31 would be write on the money ) but 4.30 is darn near the exact same thing.

i say go with the reduction and get the lowrange for rocks and climbing and be good for the gears on the road.

Already got the reduction. Luckily the former owner had already done that conversion. ;D
