Post by: lacrosse10604 on October 22, 2005, 01:33:44 PM
Hey. I'm looking at doing this poor man's lift:

Where can I get these parts to make it?

Thanks!

Dave

Talk to Digger here, he can get you coil spacers actually made for the Tracker/Kick.

As for the stuff for the body lift, any GOOD hardware should have most of it.  Home Depot...maybe.  Check the phone book for steel/iron/metal sellers and fab shops, they could point you in the right direction.

I bought Jeep TJ 1.75" coil spacers - $120(2 sets of a pair)
-trimmed the two front ones to 1.25" to achieve 2" lift.

Bought 3x3x3x48 square tube from a demolition yard - $9
Cleaned it up with a grinder, had it cut at a metal shop - $11
Drilled holes - free
Painted blocks black - free
I haven't bought bolts yet, but they'll be less than $20

So here are the costs for future reference:

3" Blocks from a Steel supply - $40
Nuts & bolts from Ace - $20
1.75" Spacers from Digger (Neil) - $50

Total: $110

Someone can probably do this cheaper but that's what it cost me.

Does anyone know if this lift works for 1999-2004 Trackers/Vitaras and what differences, if any, there are in the process?

Aslo, in http://www.zuwharrie.com/content/view/11/27/1/0/ , I can't see any of the pics. Is everyone else having this problem?

Thanks in advance.

No pictures for me either.  Heather's club (where the pics are hosted) apparently changed their links.  You can find a copy of the article with pics there.

http://www.granitepath.com/~irving/suzuki/budgetbodylift/index.htm

You can do coil spacers and a body lift on the 99-05 models, but there are a few differences.  I have heard that the dimensions on the coild spacers & lip etc. changed a little bit from the sidekicks to vitaras.  Also the 99+ model have a strut tower brace that prevents you from being able to flip the strut for additional down travel.  You will need either longer struts (OME makes a set http://www.rocky-road.com/kickome.html) or strut spacers.  JDMCRX is fabbing up a kit with coil spacers and strut spacers made specifically for the 99+ models.  http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=8494.0  But the cost is a little more.

The body lift will be a little different too, the main problem is the rack & pinion steering.  You will probably need to extend the steering shaft with something like RRO has http://www.rocky-road.com/kicksus.html

For a good walkthrough on an XL-7 (with lots of pics) see Nomaad's writeup.

And don't forget that there is a forum on Zukiworld dedicated specifically to the 99-05 models

Thanks for posting the link to our site. Yes, a while back we did change the links, and I'm not sure why Zuwharrie's pictures don't show up, except that I guess they aren't hosting them and are linking to our site. That's ok.

I guess I need to let them know. ;D

Also, this reminds me I need to update our site some.

Pic from tonight, just because:
