Title: another sammy carb question.....
Post by: mikes86 on October 29, 2005, 10:41:56 AM
I am new to these sammys, spent years watching them pass me on difficult trails and pulling me out, so I decieded to build one, I read all the carb related posts, but could not find info on this. I now have a 86 sammy, I am trying to get it to run long enough to check for vac leaks, it starts runs good at idle, hestates when I push on the throttle, if I keep at it ,it sometimes stays running, then it will idle very high, and then without touching anything will run up to full throtle. I can shut it down, it will restart and does it again, It takes off running up on its own. I know I have listed a bunch of problems, but I need a starting point, all vac lines are present, linkage/ cable not hanging up. I will have the carb rebuilt but would like to get kinda running to move around and work on things first. Thanks

Well I got it running long enough to find what was making it throttle up, it was the diaphram at the front of the carb right behind the blue electrical port looking thing, I think my vacuum lines are wrong, It was opening up and opening the secondary throttle all the way. Sorry I dont know the terms of these parts, my manual does not mention or picture, I will trace my vacuum lines.
