Post by: darnold87 on November 02, 2005, 11:39:40 PM
What: MVC trip to Detroit, Oregon
When: Nov. 19th, 2005
Who: Anyone welcome to join in the fun
Where: Exploring the area, local lakes, looking for new areas…
Depart Time/Location: [8am] Shopko/Winco Parking lot near Sharis restaurant (S. Lancaster & HWY 22) Salem, OR.
Other Info: Christmas Trees should be able to be aquired on this run as well!
I will be leading a low-difficulty exploration day heading up into the high lakes and road systems. Others interested in more extreme challenges are welcome to come but will need a leader for the day. There are places to park tow-rigs and trailers.
Hope to see some of you there.
Thanks.

Final Attendance:
4 sami's
2 toyota's
1 sidekick
1 jeep
1 chevy p/u

What a success. I had a blast. Saw some of the best views from the detroit area. The weather was spectacular - you could see soooo far!
My little cousin, Justin, has only been driving a year and this was his 1st wheelin trip in his stock 88.5" Sami. He did awesome. He even crawled the washout/creekbed (off Breitenbush) that I believe Greg F. & Val discovered... That's a challenging obstacle for your first trip out in a stock zuk, I don't care you ya are...
Anyway, thanks to everyone who participated.
I'm still waiting to hear back from Chris from Sandy. For those who weren't there: He was climbing the hill off french creek and halfway tore his spring perches off the axles and oil was somewhat seaping out. We tightened his u-bolts, removed the rear driveline, got him some 20w50 oil for keeping the rear-end full, and he headed home around 2pm. He was a great guy w/ a nice zuk.
Well, I'll try to get my pics posted tonight.
