hi guys, my valve cover gasket is dumping oil bigtime, i will have the cover off so why not adjust the valves? whats the actual milege these are supposed to be done?
I really doubt the last owners ever had them done..
Anyways, anyone happen to have the specs for the valve lash and torque specs for the rocker nuts? any other tips or tricks to doing this job?
Also has anyone ever picked up any power from a simple valve adjustment? My motor IS very very quiet up top...
thanks for your help!

Check out the project "RallyKick" thread
I put a full compression test, vacuum test, tune up and valve adjust on that thread with
photos.

Zag's thread will help with the howto ... it's simple and easy todo. (Also check the philps head screws that hold the rocker shaft mounts down ... they are notorious for coming loose).
lash adjustment is supposed to be done every 60K miles
maladjusted it can cause noise (lash loose), or burnt valves (lash tight) ...

Quiet is bad on a Zuk engine, it means
burned valves if left unchecked, and the
adjustment should be more like every 15
Thousand miles to be safe, change the valve
cover gasket every time, the lash spec is
about .006 for intake and .008 for exhaust,
there is no torque spec that I know of, but
needs to have the adjuster nuts tight enough
as so they will not come loose, but not too tight

I know that you knew that,

My suzuki service manual wich I "borrowed" from Suzuki Chile states 11,0-13,5 p/ft for the counter knut? in the valve adjustment screw. Hope it helps
