Title: Adding A/C to a 'kick
Post by: lacrosse10604 on November 11, 2005, 08:42:15 AM
I'm looking at buying a 'kick without A/C. Is it possible to add A/C? If so how hard is it?

Since the air was a dealer installed option it shouldn't be too tough.  Just get the parts.  Where are you located?

around Denver. A guy on another forum said its pretty much "plug and play" if you buy the factory kit or one from an existing 'kick.

I've done it in my swb. Just pick up a Factory A/C and fit it up. Don't forget to get the switch and depending on the year you may need to change some fittings to get it gassed with the newer environmentally friendly gas. Works good  ;D

I've got a full A/C setup for a 1994 tracker, works great. Interested?

Dihnekis,

I might be. If I buy this one without it, then I'd be interested. How much and what's included?

I have no idea what you would need. I know I have working A/C in my tracker right now, 1.6L 8v 85k on it. I'm keeping the engine for the swap to my sammy, but I'm not putting a/c in. Let me know what you need.

My '96 Tracker has A/C, and I use it so seldom that I don't know that I would go through the trouble of adding it to one that doesn't have it.  I usually drive with the top open if it is above 65 degrees out, and not actually raining...

I live in colorado. Its sunny here almost every day, plus the summers are very warm. I have a wrangler with a soft top. I find myself wishing I had A/C not too often but enough to warrant the effort.

I agree that the reduced power when using the aircon is not worth the extra pleasure of driving faster with the windows open... but then,  I don't live in Colorado....
