Title: Removing the grill, how to get the underheadlight clips loose?
Post by: AJMBLAZER on November 12, 2005, 11:47:27 AM
Okay, you undo the 4 clip thingies on the top of the grill, then pull out on the grill bottom to loosen the clip things along the bottom of the grill.  I got that but can't seem to get the clips at the ends of the "wings" under the headlights loose.

What's the trick to getting these clips loose?  I got the 3 clips under the center and where the headlight/grill meets but can't seem to loosen the others further out.  Any tips?

Damn horn is going on the fender inside the engine bay. :P

You remove the 4 clips on top and the sides u just pull them out there like small plastic clips that pull out

Yeah, but how do you get your hands on the grill to pull the narrow wings out?  I'm talking the parts on each side where the grill is only like 2" tall and has that nice smooth taper on the edges.  I don't have fat fingers but I can't get my hands on that for anything!

I never did figure out how to get the end clips out.  However I managed to wiggle my hand in there behind the grill and disconnect the wiring to the stock horn.  I wanted to see if I could wire it up to have two horns but oh well.

Mounted the aftermarket horn to the fender in front of the air box with the factory harness.  No more weenie horn.  I love Japanese 4x4's but their horns...ugh...

When I was in the Marines a buddy of mine had a nice Toyota 4x4 extended cab.  We put 5" of lift on it, some 33's, nice rims, just a nice looking truck that took a beating and kept on going.  Then he'd hit the horn...

...meep meep meep... ::)
