Hey, could you take a moment and explain to me how these Trials events work? It appears like people take turns running on a predetermined and marked course. Is there scoring? How does it work?

Thanks for your time, -Eric

the whole "rtv trials" thing came from the brits. the day consists of a few different courses set up in one area. we had 4 courses on sunday. each course is run 2 times. on average each course will take 2 - 10 minutes to run. each course will have about 7 numbered gates. the gates are about 3 meters (9 feet) apart. you start the run with 0 points. as your front tires pass thru the gate you get 1 point. if you touch the gate you loose 1 point and if you knock it over your run is over. if you stop moving at any point your run is over and you get the points up to that time. you are allowed one shunt per course(stop and back up) and then it costs one point for each one after that. there is no time limit to run each course. it was a fun day and everybody was there to have a good time. the event is not timed so going fast does not gain you any points. we had split all the entrants into 2 groups and ran 2 different courses at the same time. that speeds the day up a bit. it is also a good spectator event because all the courses were in the same area and there was lots of good picture moments. our next one will be in the spring time and i cant wait!
