Title: E Brake
Post by: MYJL on November 22, 2005, 01:38:22 PM
I tightened the emergency brake on my 1990 Samurai and when I'm driving and hit my brakes the e brake light on the dash comes on. I loosened the e brake up some but it still comes on when I hit the brakes. I thought that light was controlled by the switch on the floor by the e brake handle and nothing else. Anyone know whats happening?

If the brake fluid in the reservoir is low, when you hit the brakes, the sensor gets exposed and turns the light on on the dash.  The only other thing that can turn that light on is the hand brake cable switch.  It can wiggle and/or get stuck leaving the light on.

the light on the dash is to warn when the brake fluid level is low....it comes on with the e brake as a bulb test......if the light comes on with the e brake off then check the fluid level in the m/cyl.

Thanks Crikeymike and Xamtex. I should have thought of that. Just got done getting the heater to work for these hard Texas winters (ha ha). Getting down to mid forties tonight. I don't know how you northerners can stand so much cold weather.

Easy, we move from Cleveland to South Carolina!!!  Haven't owned a snow shovel in 19 years and the only use I have for rock salt is making ice cream  ;D

Hey it's only down to 19 deg here in Oregon, as long as it's above zero it's not too bad.   8)
