Title: Backup light problem

I have a problem with my backup lights on my 1987 samurai. The backup lights only come on when I go to 5th gear.No backup light in reverse. Very strange. Any master electronics guys on here? Thanks Allen

Post by: crikeymike on November 22, 2005, 04:11:19 PM: someone has put the wires for the reverse lights onto the 5th gear switch on the tranny. There's a funny little switch thingy that plugs into 2 positions on the tranny, 1 for 5th gear (i believe), and the other for reverse.

Someone been screwing around under there.

Post by: mrfuelish on November 24, 2005, 08:27:56 PM: if nobody has cut wires just pull out both switches and swap them back where they belong,the front one you can change from under the hood.

Post by: wildcat on November 26, 2005, 10:30:44 AM: They should be on the firewall right behind the carb (if same as my 89) they should be the only 2 that run down to the tranny.
