Title: Hood Won't close?
Post by: real_red_wagon on March 10, 2005, 02:55:46 AM
over the winter here at LMS we've been putting a 16v in the law dog amongst other things :). and last night we got it in and bolted up however ;D now the hood won't close ??? we made the install kit ourselves very similar to the one we made for the real red sammi's 1.6 8valve install. Is there something were missing? is this common on the 16v swap? is it a matter of making some new motor mount to lower it? or do you have to run a cowl hood ??? any help would be greatly appreciated :D

I think I'd do a full hood scoop.
Make it look like you've got a 350 under there, with a blower on it.

Sheesh, if that's the case, you might as well just buy one of these, build a custom Engine Mount to get yourself 450 Horsepower?  Hey, it's only $6100+   ;D

Heck just put half of one of those in there, that should do it.

the way brent at trail tough does it is that he puts a 1 1/2 " body life(whitch is a couple of neoprene leaf spring bushings)under just the front body mounts. this sounds crazy but it lifts it enough that the hood closes just my .02
