i have been watching for steel front ends, and i think i have found one. i just want to confirm this will work.
2000 front axle assy. Suzuki Vitara. 2.5L,V6,ATOD,4x4
the guy is going to call me back to let me know if it is steel or not. my plan is, is to take the 5.12's out of my 95 manual tracker and put them in the new steel front end. if anyone can lend some knowledge to my situation that would be appreciated

XL-7 is what we call it in the States. If Vitara also describes North American XL-7 in that year, then yes.
There may be articles here at ZukiWorld.com that further describe the similarities/differences between Suzuki automotive name badges around the world.
Bewley...

yeah i have never heard of just "vitara" in the states, but this was found on car-part.com and it is in kentucky where i would be buying it from. "vitara" is the only option to choose from on car-part

Get the guy to check it out. If it is steel then you are in business.
Here in NZ we get ALL sorts of variations and some have steel housings and some do not. Being a 2.5l is a good start. We tend to find the steel housings in the manuals more than the auto's - I guess the auto's are easier on transmission parts ( I have heard this is the case ).
Just get it checked and go from there.
Over here the V6's have 4.8:1 r&p's so you will need to swap in your 3rd or of you find a steel 3rd as well - swap in your 5.12 r&p's.
Good luck ;)

correct me if i am wrong but arent all 99-up 2 doors plain old "Vitaras" in america?

99-04 2 doors were all Vitaras and the plain jane entry model 4 doors were Vitaras. The Grand Vitara had a V6 and the up level trim and interior peices.
You could get a 4 door Vitara with a V6 but not the 2 door.
There were no 2005 Vitaras, and I think the 2 doors might have ended sooner.
