I have always wanted a Sammy, since they came out... never could find a decent one, but I was perusing the trader online and found this little 93 1.6 8v 4x4 Tracker.... $600, from a dealer, took it in on trade from the original owner.
125K miles.. engine is smooth.. there is an exhaust leak from somewhere near the manifold, haven't found it yet.. it's not horrible, doesn't backfire or anything.. might leave it.
I bought it as is, with the 4x4 not working.. BUT, the hubs were just a little stiff.. a little playing with them, and they lock in just fine! the Trans case works fine, even with mismatched street tires, it does FINE on the trails, I was just amazed, I think I am HOOKED!!
Everything but the radio works, and it is static only...... who cares... it is for the trails..
Soft top is good, back window is broken.. but again who cares.. it stays dry inside..
The interior is immaculate, I couldn't believe it, I don't think it has ever been off road in it's life! ÂÂ
the catch? RUST!! RUST and MORE RUST!.. the right front fender, and the left quarter and rocker panels are ate up bad.. the frame is undercoated and seems solid.
The price, $600.00  From what I have seen, that was a bargain.. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the little thing really doesn't need much to go have some fun.
a small lift, and some tires and a winch... that is about all I plan on... might not even lift it. I would like to fix the exhaust leak, but something tells me it's the manifold... time will tell..
OK, what do I look out for, what should I get first, should I get lockers or or leave it stock.
How should I break myself into the Zuki world.. after one day, I must say I am hooked! We are an ATV family, and I have THOUSANDS in my quads... but this thing promises to be some cheap fun, compared to ATV's.... you can't buy ANYTHING atv-wise for $600.. that's for sure.
Couple of questions...  What is the best tire choice, price vs. fit with no lift. I don't want to lose low end or anything, highway speed isn't too important... I might not lift it, and I definately don't want to rub.. but I need traction... what do yall suggest?
Here are some pitiful pics, one from the ad, and the rest at night in my driveway

Thanks guys.. seems like some neat toys you guys have for yourselves here!!! GREAT SITE!!

Welcome to the wonderful world of Trackers/Sidekicks. 8)
Had my first one a few years ago and sold it too soon. Now I have another but it needs some TLC that I'm in the middle of now.
My first one was a bare bones '93 that after some work looked like this when I was done:
Not the greatest picture but basically I ripped out all the carpet and plastic crap inside other than the dash and front seats. The carpet was a wet, moldy, stinky mess. The rear seat mounts were so rusted out that the seat jiggled around. I tossed the rear seat and all it's associated paraphenalia.
Next came some 235/75R15 (29ishx9ishR15) mud tires and away it went. It wheeled pretty good like that. Fit down trails my friend's Ranger couldn't fit down. I was contemplating a rear locker and MAYBE a 1-2" lift but never got to it as other events made me stupidly sell it.
With a 2" lift you can fit 235's or 30x9.5R15's. You can fit both stock but the lift just helps with better clearance and approach/departure angles. You have to decide if it's worth it for you. They're great little trucks that are tough and reliable and can go anywhere if you treat them right.
I just picked up another one:
I'm currently putting a new head on it and telling myself I'll keep it stockish as a daily driver. So far I've repeated what I did to the other one up to the tires. They're great, but addictive, little things. 8)
-
Great! So, I can fit 235/75R15 's without a lift? If so, I would like to go ahead and get them, so I can go have some fun... it has three street tires, and one all terrain.. lol..... still goes up some pretty steep hills in the hollow in my back yard... can't wait to get some real tires on there
What is a decent, cheap tire? I was thinking of the Buckshot mudders.. or maybe the Pep Boys tire that looks a lot like that.. I want to keep this Tracker a low budget affair, with just a coil and/or body lift, some tires, maybe a winch, possibly lockers.. (oh boy, here we go..) Just want some ideas on good under $100 tires, I want to get them tomorrow too... I know I could get better deals online, but I don't have a lot of patience (or vacation left)
This Tracker will be a sometimes road, but mostly trail truck. It will be trailered to and from the trails, but I would like to run errands in it too, so I don't think I will spool or weld the rear, and I might just leave the front open, or limited slip it... what do you guys recommend?
I have built some Chevy 4x4's.... but I don't know jack about these Suzukis yet... I need to get it up on a rack, and take a close look at how it is laid out. I am loving the fact that it's fuel injected and coil sprung already... and seems to be geared pretty low, stock.. I mean I am turning 3 grand at 55 with 205's on it... what is that? 5.13 or so.. I need to do some more reading..
Thanks for the response, I can use all the tips I can get...
How easy are the exhaust manifolds to get off and replace with headers? I haven't even had a chance to get a good look at it, in the daytime... Do the 8v's benefit from opening up the intake? cone filter and tube? or should I stick with the airbox?
Tips? Tricks? Spares I should go ahead and buy?
-
Welcome,
The rust looks pretty bad, but if you do much wheeling, the rocker panels are going to take a beating.  Someone on this forum did a good post showing how he replaced his rockers with rock sliders made of square tubing (was that Zig that did that?).  The Tracker is a body on frame construction, and the ultimate solution may be a full body transplant.
I am running 225 Dunlops, and Keith runs 235 HiTech retreads without lift or rub. ÂÂ
If your exhaust manifold is leaking, you may want to replace it with a header.  There have been posts on that mod.
I had a Sammy that I used for several years as a daily driver, and traded it off because it was beating me up (physically) (rough ride, poor seats).  The Tracker is a much more "civilized" ride, and I have no problem driving it daily to work, and it is still very capable off road.
If you are in the eastern half of the country, mark the weekend after the Fourth of July on your calander for Zukimelt at Attica, Indiana.  Check Izook.com for details on that.  It's three days of great wheeling.  In past years, nearly 200 Zuks have shown up for wheeling, camping, exchanging ideas and a great time. You may want to wheel near stock, and come to Indiana this summer to get some ideas as to what other people are doing.
-
Welcome to the club,
The Zuki bug bit you too. I was hooked the moment i got behind the wheel. They are awesome little rigs.
Like the others said the 235/75r15 is a good start. They will fit without a lift. Come in some good tread patterns too. A body lift might be difficult if your body bolts are real rusty. If you decide you want a lift for minimal expense the spring spacers will get it up a bit. A rear locker is only a couple hundred bucks or so. Cheap fun. ;D
Here is a link to a site I am putting together about my suzuki oddysse. Have fun.

Thanks guys! Attica... Heck yeah, I am in Cincinnati, and have wanted to go to the Badlands for a long time (I am a Quadder/Atv guy from WAY back) I will definately mark the calender for Zukifest!!
I went ahead and got 4 new Maxxis Buckshot mudders today... 235's and they fit pretty darned well.. WOW what a difference!! The little guy looks tougher for sure, and the grip is outta site!
The rust is bad, but not underneath, the frame is undercoated and looks fine. The body bolts seem like they would be OK (but I am sure I will have SOME trouble)
Had it on the rack today, and everything looks OK underneath, no bad rust or bent or broken componants.. all in all, other than the bad body cancer... she is solid!
I will pull the heat sheild off the manifold tomorrow, and see if it is cracked, or if there is a hole further down, before the CAT. It's not that bad, I can live with it for a while..
I don't see any reason to put a good body on it, the rust isn't structural (except the windshield pillars...lol) I am just going to bang it off trees and rocks anyway... lol...
I think I am going to try to take it to Haspin Acres this week... any of you guys ever go wheeling out there? That is the first place I saw a "train" of trackers and kicks doing there thing, it inspired me to look for one...
How hard is it to put a locker in the rear? What type do you folks recommend? I thought about just welding it up and being done with it.. it won't see a lot of street time.. and I don't mind a little squealing now and then... LOL...
Pictures coming, as soon as she is presentable.. LOL..
Thanks again!!

In that situation I'd just weld it. Simpler and cheaper.
-
Sounds like a great canidate for a trail rig, even the price!! Here's a link to the suzuki forum on Off-Road.com. Seems like there are several guys on that board who ride at Haspin Acres. Haven't been there yet, myself. Welcome to the board!!

Thanks for the link!
Tried the tires out today, and got some road time on it too... I am still surprised at how solid this little thing is.. we did some stuff today, in the rain, that I didn't think I had a chance at going up.. we spun, but we made it up, wish I had pictures of the slick little hill.. but was too busy driving..
Here is a shot today, with the Buckshots on it.. they didn't rub a bit, with three people in it, and some mild wheeling...

and one of the clearance with the 235/75's on it

Welcome aboard.
The Buckshots do a great job, get a locker for the rear and a winch.
Cheap winches do fine as these things aren't very heavy and just a little help usuallly gets you through, (if you want to stay cheap).
I have 4 4X4 ATV's parked in my garage that are just collecting dust now.
Three Zuks that we now ride, yes, these little things are awesome.
Kinda like my old Harley, ride one and if I have to explain it, you'll not understand.
Enjoy!

Welcome to our world!
TracKicks are a lot nicer on the highway. Then again, there is an older couple that come every year to the ZookiMelt (weekend after the Fourth of July) with their stock green Tracker and run moderately harsh trails (creek beds, off-camber stuff steep hills). They have a BLAST!
Every time I drive my SPOAed Samurai on errands, I resolve never to do that again... until next time.
Maybe I'll slap those Digger spring spacers on the '93 4-door, steal the tires and wheels off the Samurai and wheel the '06 'Melt in it! ;D
-
I am loving this little thing...
Here was my last 4x4... fun, yeah, but I was CONSTANTLY breaking stuff.... it was just too heavy, not counting mud, my Tracker will go places the Chevy couldn't dream of fitting... :D
(http://www.forumsigs.com/users/quaddawg605/1978 Chevy/blackside.jpg)
Now, I have a question, what is the bolt pattern equal to on these? Is there a 14 inch wheel that will fit? how about (stay with me here) a 12" wheel? Even with an adapter?
ITP makes a 30 inch Mud Lite tire that would absolutely ROCK for a Tracker... would have to run a little more pressure than normal, but it would hold up for a while, they are tough...
-
The bolt pattern is the standard 5x5.5" that Ford, Dodge, Jeep, IH, AMC, and others have used over the years.
Make sure those ATV tires have a weight rating capable of supporting a 2000-2500lb vehicle. Trackicks are lightweight but still two-three times the weight of the heaviest ATV.
-
Thanks, I am still trying to figure out what wheel I could use to try..
the tires I am thinking of will be fine.. they have load ratings of about 600 or so.. and that is conservative... if it comes together... I will let yall know..
right now, I am still just enjoying where it will go stock... :D
-
Personally I think you're better off with the tires you have now. They're rated for it and will actually take highway travel with it to and from the trail. Wouldn't do that to those ATV tires myself.
-
Yes, I totally agree with you..... but..... Ever since I saw a Sammy on these ATV tires, I have wanted to do it.. If anything, they will be just extra, for muddy conditions and all..
I will trailer it to any wheeling place, as I don't want to break, and get stuck with no way home.. LOL...
The Buckshots seem to be great so far, easy on the road, and decent in the dirt. It's hard to come inside! Too much fun in the back yard!
I am going to Haspin with a bunch of Jeep guys on Groundhog day weekend.. and see what I can tear up..
What is the absolute weakest link? Front aluminum diff? What is the best fix, Calmini Anvil with Vitara guts? or just a Vitara front diff?
Also, what spares should I keep? Axles? CV's?? I knew what to take when I took the pickup out, and my ATV's.... but I am not sure what to take for the Tracker..
Also, bonus news... I found out the radio DOES work.. it was just on AM, and the display doesn't work, (is real dim) and the antenna was all the way in.. works great.. so..... I have tunes too... LOL..
$600 bargain for SURE..
I feel like a 44 year old kid!
-
It's nice to have a backyard proving ground too.. ( I live in a suburb of Cincinnati, but have a vacant "ditch" in my back yard... LOL)

Hahaha...man, wish I had something like that around here.
If you want some serious traction without having to look for odd sized rims or ATV tires, why not get some Super Swampers? There's TSL's and TSL radials in sizes that will fit your Tracker as it sits right now.
I bet the Buckshot Mudders will get you through a lot as it is though.
-
Hey there QuadDawg, welcome to the Zuk Craze.
Im just across the river from you in covington, and have loved zuks since i was 16 and bought my first samurai.
The tracker is a nice comfy little truck with fancy comfort options like door upholstry and leg room, but if you are looking for true ATV replacement, you cant beat a Samurai !
This is a picture of mine on my own backyard dirt pile......THose are buckshot wide mudders on there with a 6 inch SPOA lift.....

best of luck with that rust.....oh and if you kill it let me know, i will buy your engine bay contents and ECU ;D
-
Great looking Sammy! I have a buddy that has a Sammy he is wanting to sell me, just the tub and frame and some bigass tires... needs the engine and all from my Tracker.. but, it seems like too much work... I will play with this one till I get tired of where it WON'T go, then I will build something more capable... That Rock-Star looks like the ticket...
I had Super Swamper TSL's on that Chevy if you look at the picture on page one.. Had them siped too, they were amazing.. but they were a bit more, about $30 a tire at my dealer.. and I didn't have the patience to wait for mail order.... lol..
Now, I am really wanting a locker... ARB in the rear would be fine.. but would cost more than the whole rig.... LOL.... Lincoln Locker is getting more and more attractive!!
-
this is a good site to sniff around on for kick stuff. stan
-
Hey Quad, and welcome to zuki's ;D as for spare parts, I have heard that you will need spare CV's if you plan on wheeling it very hard. Although I was running 31x12.50's on open diff's I never suffered any breakage (lucky I guess). If you are wanting a cheap lift you can get Diggers coil spacers and do a homemade body lift for under $200. Also I am pretty sure it was also Digger that made the rocker panel rails where he cut out a notch in the rockers and welded 2 2x4 sq tubing in place in each side, looked pretty sweet. I was quite amazed what the little things could do, many times I upset my friends being able to out do their real (as they called them) 4x4's. Good luck with the new rig and enjoy.

He's already got a set of radial muds, he wants something more extreme.
-
I tell ya, I am so bitten by this bug, that if I had the extra money, I would buy another street DD today.. in great shape.. put these Buckshots on that one.. and go way more extreme on this rusted one.... even tube body extreme... BUT, funds are limited for now.. SO.. the 235 Buckshots will have to do for while... the real question now is:
Spool
Weld
Lock-rite
ARB (not financially possible at this time)
If I were to mini spool it, why not just weld it up.... cheaper
I am not too fond of the BANG factor of a lock rite, I wouldn't mind the ratcheting too much, but I don't need it to BANG.. IF I decide to get a DD trackick, then I will weld it on up, and lock-rite the front... but... see... that is the trouble... not enough money to to EXACTLY what I want to do with it....
I guess the bottom line.. gotta lock it somehow............. the difference in trailability will just be too much to pass up.. gotta do it... There is NO reason for air lockers to be so darned expensive.. someone needs to take the idea to China, and get a decent product made.. I bet you could sell thousands of them for $300 each.....
-
Just weld it. Cheap and works. :)
-
I have friends that drive thier welded/spooled jeeps on the street... but this thing is so much fun to drive on the street... how bad is it really? I have narrow 235/75's on it, and the track on these things is narrow anyway... I mean, will it kill the turning radius on pavement? Making parking the manuevering HORRIBLE? I mean, all my quads are of course solid, or locked IRS, I drive them on the road all the time, but it's a different world altogether..
anyone else run welded or spooled rears on the road regularly?
(I really need a DD Sidetrack!)
-
anyone else run welded or spooled rears on the road regularly?
X2
I'd like to weld/spool my daily street driver too(but not sure which), I've been thinking about buying a spare rear axle when I do, just in case something breaks.
-
I think this tire is awesome. The Cooper STT. Not very cheap though. :'(
I have the ST on my Tracker and it is a good tire. I got it because I had heard good things about it and I got a good deal. It actually out performed the BEG AT and MT in a off-road test (www.offroad.au.com). And they are both great tires. This STT even looks better though. It has to be good.

Yeah, that's us...

So jzap how old is older? Just wondering so I know where I will fit in. ;) My wife and I are planning on being there this year.
-
It's relatively close for me, I will be there for SURE... I am 44 and I will have my 11 year old boy with me too...
I will definately be welded or locked by then, one way or another.. but that is about all, going to try it at stock height first, I like to keep em as low as is practicle...
I am just chomping at the bit to get started, I "sniped" a brand new cheaper top (didn't need a top really, but the windows were poop...) for $67 over the weekend, $81 delivered, so that was a steal...
Changed out the belts today, and put a more free flowing air cleaner on it.. also checked out the manifold and it isn't cracked.. I have some leakage in the twin down pipe I think, it isn't too bad, but definately sounds louder than it should be.. i will check it out tomorrow..
Had some more fun with it today, but I am REALLY starting to appreciate it on the street..... I have never had it easier when parking! (except maybe my Festiva......lol)
-
So jzap how old is older? Just wondering so I know where I will fit in. ;) My wife and I are planning on being there this year.
We don't use "the 'O' word" around our house... We prefer to say, we are becoming mature... We're not really THAT old... early 50's... Still young enough to have fun...
-
Look over the rear axle ball joint (center pivot). I've had two of them go (one siezed on the frame mount, another was a replacement with a frozen & loose pivot bolt). Make sure that the axle side bolts are tight as well. Also, some years (mine: 98) have cheap trans crossmembers. I replaced mine with an older one, spacing the low end with a 1/4" piece of steel, making the exhaust the lowest point, and the frame even across the bottom.
Yours has the factory upgrade rims, which may be 7" units already, but mine had the stock steel ones (5 1/2" IIRC). Mine was a lot better after replacing them with more back spaced 7" wheels (widens the track as well, but it seemed to make the tires a lot more stable -- 5 1/2" is the narrowest rim that the 235 is rated for). Some stock wheels from other vehicles wont have a large enough center hole for the front hubs. Remove and toss the front wheel 'beauty' rings. They just hold mud against the hubs and don't let you notice if they are loose or not.
4 door brakes fit the front hubs (2 or 4wd), you need the calipers, mounts, pads, rotors. Never run out of brakes again.
I junkyarded my skid plates: they are aluminum, stock of some sort.
I raised the front edge of the driver seat where it mounts to the body with bits of angle iron.
KYB GR2 struts are just like all other KYB struts/shocks I've used: too stiff; but relatively cheap.
To quote gramps, purt near the easiest timing belt change you'll ever do.
Same for the right side CV/half shaft assembly. Later (96?-98) axle shafts are larger in diameter, front and rear. Most have the 5.125 gearing. Rear axle on the 4 door is the same, excepting the brakes (and anti-locking optioned vehicles -- they have speed rings & sensors).
Older units (yours) have a different soft top and rear windows (can be changed if wanted to later one with zip out windows if the trim/mounts are changed as well) than later units (95 +?). Somebody on ebay sells foldable mirrors to replace the stockers.
I have an F350 crew cab. I think the outside diameter of my turns is smaller than the inside radius it can turn. I hate driving the durn thing. But love driving my 'Barbie car'. So much more fun, reminds me a lot of my old Honda car (the original 600's). Just with more ability to gather momentum.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the great info!!
I have the fever for fixin... lol.. I have patched a bit of the rust... and found a 97 in a junkyard today, same color... had good fenders, hood and driver door...
The guy at the counter said the hood wouldn't fit my 93... I bought it anyway.. as the only difference looks like it isn't flat like the 93... the fenders and doors were listing as fitting, so it is hard to believe that I can't make the newer hood fit... anyone know???/
I was lucky enough to find a decent top on Ebay (sniped it for $67!!) Brand new, perfect in original carton.. It isn't a Besttop, it's a Pavements End or something like that.. but it looks pretty decent in quality, seems equal to the wasted Besttop that is on it now.. They guy had four.. I sniped the first one for $67.. the others all went over $115... guess I stole it.. LOL...
I had an IDIOT at the local muffler shop quote me $440 for the downpipe/converter.. PART ONLY!!! I had to laugh in his face as I told him to back my Tracky out of the shop... LOL... The manifold is fine afterall, so I just ordered a MagnaFlow downpipe and converter for $144 delivered... I guess I should have just gotten a header, and built a system, but I have had SO many headaches in my life with header leaks.. I just couldn't bring myself to do it (yet) the power gain from just the header alone has GOT to be minimal, and it seems plenty powerful enough as it is.... (crawler gears will solve that anyway)
So, does anyone know for sure what width my rims are? (factory aluminum...see link)
I did some sheet metal and rivet work.. I don't mind the look of that at all.... rust, I hate... patchwork looks OK in my book, and I am sure I will have a LOT more by trails end.....
http://www.forumsigs.com/users/quaddawg605/Tracker/
-
Went ahead and bought the fenders, drivers door, AND hood... hope the hood fits!!
I guess the metal was a bit high, but the colors match, even down to the door panel, so it should be a simple bolt on upgrade... should have them on by tomorrow, PLUS the new top.. I got the new top, hood, fender and drivers door complete with all hardware, for less than $350.....
Now, am considering a spray job afterall.... I hate to steal other's ideas.. but I think it's going OD... Saw that one on here... liked it.. I like Camo, but it has been done to death....
(if the Bengals manage to beat the Steelers Sunday (doubtful) it might get orange with black tiger stripes!!!lol)
-
The hood will fit, just look different. Can't recall if the body lines match up but I bet they do. Guys have done that.
That's an excellent price on the top, nice score.  I got my new one for over twice that.  Well over twice that.  It was the cheapest I found that wasn't used (went down that road, got screwed) or really mysterious. Then I see another post and yours where guys got super great deals and I hate you all. ;)
Factory rims should be 15x5.5", steel or aluminum. I've got a set of both. I think only the backspacing is dimensionally different, and they're within a half inch of each other. I think...they might be the same...
The cheap little beater ain't so cheap now, is it? It's a damn disease. ;D I'm just concentrating on getting mine running right now. :P
Get some real military rough texture OD paint. Rust resistant, nonskid, and abrasive. ;D A friend of mine has an old Chevy similar to yours painted OD but it's smooth. To my former Marine eyes it just isn't right without being rough and textured. :)
-
hmmmm, I can get them to add texture, along with the flattening agent I guess... would probably take an undercoating gun to shoot it... (or I could BRUSH IT!! lol, don't laugh, I might!)
Nah, it's still a cheap little beater... I don't ever count the add-ons... that is just the price of playing... lol... I am STILL trying to figure out a way to justify and ARB!! lol.... gonna weld instead...
-
Mine might end up coated in Herculiner. ;D
-
I whacked a deer with my '96 last year, and the only hood I could find was a flat one. It bolted right up, and used the same latch, so i would expect yours to work the other way around.
-
I like the flat one better now that I see one that isn't caved in.. lol... Oh well... I am glad it will fit, and if I don't paint immediately, at least it's the same color.. haha..
Yours looks great!
My wrecking yard has 8 trackers according to the computer , I just saw two, but the place is huge! One fender had a very very slight dent, he through that in for free.... I pushed the dent 90% out with my thumb from the inside... man those fenders are thin! I will coat these with chassis saver BEFORE I put them on, course they are just going to get banged up on rocks and trees... at least they won't rust again...
What is the WORLD can I do about these PINK seats!! They are in GREAT condition, I want to keep them.. Think I could dye the center sections? I don't care if it doesn't come out any particular color, just something other than PINK!! HA!

I got some $20 seat covers for my stained, cigarette burned seats.

I have seen vinyl seat dye in spray cans. You may have to look at some of the more well stocked auto supply stores, or maybe JC Whitney...

Well, I got the hood, fenders, new top and driver door on!  Not too many skinned knuckles or anything.. I must say, it hardly looks like a beater at all anymore.. LOL, maybe I should sell it.
I do have to pull the damn left fender off again though, I was silly enough to put the fender back on before I road tested it, and the door needs to be tweaked a bit... forgot all about having to have the fender off to adjust the door.. lol... oh well, live and learn!
The seats are cloth.. do you think the vinyl dye would be the right stuff? or is there fabric dye?
What is the EASIEST way to remove the factory vinyl stickers? they are brittle, and heating and peeling isn't an option.....  I have used something.. but I forgot what it was. I don't want to kill the paint just yet, as now it actually looks pretty good... I can hold off painting it for a little while and save up for a lift.
Rocky Road?
Calmini?
Opinions??
Heh Heh this is turning into the one thread for everything topic..ÂÂ
I do a lot of searching, I will search out rocky road vs. calmini and see what I come up with.ÂÂ
I am waiting for the Magnaflow downppipe/converter, then it's off to the muffler shop for a nice tight install of the rest of the system.. the manifold bolts don't look TOO corroded...... do they like to break?  The manifold bolts look pretty rusty... do broken studs come out of these heads pretty easily? I am hoping for the best but being prepared for the worst.. lol... if the studs on the downpipe/manifold break, it looks like I will have to remove the manifold to drill them.. and at that point, I will wish that I had just gone ahead and gotten the whole header system.. lol... jeez.. this bug bites hard doesn't it!?!?!
Did you guys see one of my other projects in the background of some of those tracker shots?

(I need to post some of the post fender/hood/newtop/door install... looks fine with the ghetto rivet rust repair.. I wonder if the junkyard would cut out just the section I need.... little portable plasmacutter would whack it right out and I could weld it in... I ain't much on delicate welding and the sheet metal on these things is T H I N ! !... I think I will stick to my riveted ghetto look..
I looked under the bumper covers today, and EVERY screw and nut looks rusted as all get out.. plus the bumper underneath looks pretty rusty too... ugh..  What is the easiest way to get the cover off? How many bolts exactly are holding it on???
-
Cloth seats are even easier...
Just get some black Rit Fabric Dye (available in most grocery and department stores). Mix it up in some hot water and apply it to the fabric with a sponge. Be sure to use rubber gloves, and don't get it on anything porous.
Sponge it on lightly, and let it dry completely before another application. You may have to apply several times to get the depth of color you want, but black should cover the pink pretty easily.

Welcome to the world of Suzukis!
I have some links to some Suzuki parts vendors on my website, on the FAQ page http://www.godzuki.us/faq.htm Not a lot of Track/Kick stuff...but there is some.
You can browse around the site, and see some of the places we've been too...there are pics from the Badlands for Zookimelt, and pics from Haspin Acres as well.
If you get to Zookimelt this year....look up the Bedford Boys...we just live a few miles up the road from you in Bedford, IN.
We have a run to Haspin acres every fall too, so you might wanna' join us for that.

Thanks for the links and offer to meet up at Zukimelt.. I DO intend to go to that one.. even if I don't get very much further with the tracky..
Thanks for the dye tip from Jzap... heck... ANY color is better than the pink, think I will do THAT tomorrow!
NOW... I am going to get a manual for the tracker tomorrow, but can pulling the pumpkin, be simple? What is the easiest way? any shortcuts? I want to get it to my buddies for a good welding this week..
I drove it 100 miles today, up to 80 on the freeway.. it's a pretty tight little unit.. but not stable enough for my tastes as a DD, and when I lift it, I am sure it won't get any MORE stable. lol.. so this one is going to be a trail rig.. even though I just "got the ugly off it" as my buddy put it.. it still represents more fun to me locked tight. I am even considering welding the front, and investing in a few extra axle/CV sets... lol.. do they make lockers for the front? I haven't seen any... lockers would be fine in front.. I am not one of those heavy footed spinem and drop'em kinda guys.. I know how to keep axles under a 4x4 that's locked.. I just think locked on all four corners would make this little tank unstoppable...
So, what's the word, can anyone give me the low down on pulling the rear (and front?) punkins?
I will try to post pics of the Tracky tomorrow, with the Ugly off it... lol..
Thanks again guys.. it never ceases to amaze me how much you can learn FAST joining a forum..
