Title: Fuel Pump
Post by: basscatlildave on March 18, 2019, 03:23:56 PM
I just picked up an 88 Samurai . They told me the gas tank is bad so it was running off a jug under the hood. The fuel pump has 4 lines on it. I understand in out and return. What is the 4th line used for?

If it's an OEM style pump, the fourth connection is a "vent" - if the diaphragm fails, you'll see oil dripping from it.

Well ok. That explains why it has oil dripping out of it. It's still seems to be pumping fine but I'll change it out.  ;)

The mechanical pump is cheap and easy to replace.
