How to move Samurai axle forward?
« on: January 20, 2006, 04:14:19 PM »
Saw a Samurai on ebay with this done and would like to know how to do it? I did a search of the boards but it only seems to pick out one word of a search sentence so not exactly helpful.

I know this is more than likely a 40x re-post so if somebody could just post the link please?  :)

Several ways to do it including:
-putting in longer springs
-swapping in springs with an offset locating bolt
-redrilling the stock springs themselves and moving the locating bolt forward
-re-drilling the spring perch on the axle to move the locating hole back and thus that axle forward
-using re-alignment blocks between the spring and spring perch on the axle
- using coils instead of springs and moving the axle when designing the suspension links and their mounting locations

If you are really interested in how it was done on the rig on Ebay post a link to it and maybe we can tell from the photos.

There is also a safe, economical way of moving your axle forward an inch. Spidertrax Spring Location pads. http://www.spidertrax.com/s.nl/sc.2/category.119/.f  An inch may not seem like a lot but it really helps keep the tires from rubbing the firewall ;)
