New 2" BDS kit for the 4dr trackkick
« on: April 14, 2006, 04:07:42 PM »
I noticed that BDS has updated their installation instructions to include an application for the 4dr trackkicks.  The catalog hasn't been updated yet, but if you want a 2" lift without coild spacers this might be a good option

SWEET!!! I hadn't seen the garage sale section before.  So is Boondox going to offer any kind of strut spacer/extension or just the OME struts.  The BDS Strut extensions seem really slick, and don't screw with the strut brace like a spacer that lowers the mounting surface.

I just ordered a set  of those extensions at my local BDS dealer for my Digger lift.  Now all I need is a set of towncar shocks and a successful triple-bypass surgery!  :o  Wish me luck!

I would think so. I will ask about it on Monday.

So would those strut extensions work well with an existing OME springs/struts lift? I could certainly use the two extra inches of drop it gives, but would it mees too much with my CVs since I already have OME struts and springs up front?

Thanks, jeff

How much did they cost from BDS? I don't see them separately.

Also, anybody dare to compare the BDS springs with the OME springs?

You should be able to get them for $35-45 a set from your local BDS supplier.  the_maplebar and I both paid about that much.

Ask for part number FSE3.  If they say it doesn't exist have them call BDS and ask.  Also, FSE3 is a SET, you don't need to order two FSE3's...you'll get two sets in that case.

It would kill your CVs. The OME struts are already 1 1/2" longer. From the measurements that I've taken 2" is the max without lowering the front axle.

It says on Boondox that the spring would work on SWB, but would be firm... How firm. Like invest in a back surgery firm? I can drive a Super Pro car down the streat in a Aluminum seat and be a little sore, would this be that bad? Also they will work on a '92 right?

I think they said that because they had a customer who used them on the two door even though the spring rate is designed for a four door. He had a heavy bumper and winch in front and also HD rear bumper with heavy spare tire so it helped compensate for the added spring rate. I think they might not be bad on a generation II shorty but I would think it would ride like a brick on a 2 door Geo or 'Kick. If you have a '92 SWB I don't think I would use them. I think you would also get too much lift. I asked about them for my shorty and they said not a good idea.

I just came from Boondox. They have 20 sets of those strut extenders in stock. $45 a set.
