any rear diff high clearance mod?
« on: May 30, 2006, 06:49:08 PM »
Hey guys, I know this can be done to some diff case but, I do not know it it is doable in the track/kick rear diff cover...
My intention is, since I am going to over rotate my rear axle I could do at the same time some triming of the rear diff case to get more groung clearance, has anyone done that? has anyone tried/tought it?

Search for "shaved diff" I think that is what a lot of people call it.

Here is one

or perhaps we could mod an sammi rear axle : ) lots of clearance  ;D
I got a spare rear axle housing and I tought I would play around with it : ), but I know that there is more to diff housings than just empty space...despite they are part of the structure I did not want to mess around with the oil flow, without knowing someone else had done it before : )
Hey Wild, what kind of tube and metal sheet should I use to build a front A Arm? Have you ever built one like that one that you drew?

1-3/4" DOM, tough to bend, but heavy
wall is very strong

Sheet metal, is too thin, but 3/8" plate
should hold up well, 1/4" is too thin

Thanks Wild,
do not I have to know the tube wall thickness? or is this 1-3/4'' DOM is enough?
