I'm removing the softtop completely from my 89 tracker and it just has the gasket for the sunroof but no glass or anything so im curious if I can buy a kit to fill all that in even the little valley around the sunroof, I want to convert the backseat area into a little pickup bed and I don't feel like making the tracker look tacky with a sunroof but a huge gap in the body where that little valley is, I considered cutting my softtop apart but its already pretty trashed and I don't want to buy a whole softtop have no desire to use the rear seat have other plans..

any ideas would be awesome...

Get the front piece of a hardtop.  Or is that what you are talking about?  I am a bit confused (nothing new)

What Quaddog said...  ...Go with the front half of a removable hard top.  It just clips in and looks pretty good.

where i pickup the front peice of a hardtop at?? and is it reasonable thanks for responses though i probably did confuse the hell out of you i was confusing myself writing the message LOL guess what happens when you try to ask a question at 11:30pm after working and going to school haha

They have the softtop bikini ones for like 54 dollars thats a good deal anybody have any luck with those??

A lot of people run bikini tops On Samurai on trail runs.  They keep the sun off you, but don't do much for rain. 

I thought about getting a bikini top for my Tracker, but the '96 Tracker has removable side curtains, so for trail riding, I just zip out the side and rear windows and set it up like a safari top.  The advantage is that you can still open the front half if you want to.  For a '96 it just wouldn't add that much versatility over what I already have.

Well im completely eliminating the rear seat and stuff and welding some diamond plating or something right behind the front seats and enclosing the cab. so I won't be using a top more in likely have a jobox or something in the back with tools ect in it so a complete top is pointless for me and 300 dollars for that sunroof hardtop is kind of steep  so im looking into alternatives maybe i can just weld some diamond plating or iron on the roof and close off the sunroof completely but i think it would look kind of goofy cause there's that groove in the roof

you can DIY a fiberglass front hardtop if ya got the time ...

essentially get a "frame" made of wood that fits into the "well" around the gasket, staple some stretched fabic over the frame, get the fabric impregnated with resin (properly making where you DONT want resin sticking!), when that's hardend, remove and reinforce with additional resin and matting (and cut a hole for some aftermarket popup sunroof).

make sure you figure how it's going to be attached (aka tnuts into the frame, or small blocks for clips or ...

get the frame so you have the fabric just hitting the gasket (this is the only tricky part since the roof line bows left to right) ... when you add the extra matt to build it up 1/4" thick, that'll compress the gasket for a nice seal.

I had a hardtop to cut one of these into ... (I got mine for $89 at a swap meet tho) ...

A DIY front piece won't be too hard tho ... finding a cheap popup sunroof, that's tricky.
