Got a new toy today! (NOW With Pix!)
« on: June 27, 2006, 10:02:10 PM »
I'm not sure if it's an 87 or 88, but it is a Sammi. Softop. A friend of mine bought it for the plow, and he is giving it to me for takin the plow off of it for him. He says it runs really good, but has big rust issues. will have pix up in just a couple of days. I've had plenty of Trackers and Sidekicks, but this is my first Sammy, so I know I'll have plenty of questions. Thanks, George.

I am kinda Jonesing for a Sammy too.

Would I be nuts for trying to make a decent Daily Driver out of a Sammy?  I drive mostly on the freeway, no huge hills, just the mild hills around Cincy.  I can drive 150 miles a day  on most days... and I have a bad back... lol... maybe I answered my own question.. but it would be fun for local errands, I think a stock Sammy would be cool, you don't see too many of them around here anymore.

There are three down my way, a nice blue one, a crappy three tone primer one with a piece of rubber garden edging for a wheel flare, and a green one that always seems to be parked at a local garage with its hood up...... CIncinnati just aint fertile ground for samurais that i can see. As far as being a daily driver, I used to run pizza in a stock 88 and stock 92, both were great around town and of course easy to park. Now that im lifted and geared down i cant do the highway as well, 55 is top speed, but its a great around town daily driver.

I have seen an awesome samurai several times running around kissimmee florida in the past 4 months. Everytime I see it in traffic I try to get a closer look but am foiled by traffic LOL

It appears to be a softop around 87 model year I think, and apparently in like new showroom condition. The first time I noticed it I was ahead in traffic quite a bit, and what caught my attention was the glistening shiny white paint at the front of the hood which caused quite a lot of glare in my rearview mirror!

I will continue to keep an eye out for it in traffic when I am in the area. I looked in completely stock condition, ie never been offroad and no changes made in equipment. I was completely startled at how new it appeared from a distance. It literally was like being in a time warp and seeing one as it was in the eighties and fresh from the dealer lot  :o
