I have a 97 Geo Tracker with 16 valve 1.6L fuel injected.  Can i replace that with a 16 valve 1.6L from a 2000 Esteem.  I only need the bottom end (block, crankshaft, etc.) If someone could answer this it would be much appreciated.  Thank You

Let us enter the world of guessing....

A quick search of the internet ("Suzuki Esteem") did not make me think otherwise, so I will say "Yes" assuming that an examination of the block shows a substantial similarity between the two engines.  If the marking on the right rear of the engine block by the  transmission say "G16 1598cc" or similar, them my "yes" would be even stronger.

But I have no actual proof to back up any claim that both engines are interchangable...

Hope this helps...

The only problem I can see is the head, some
heads don't have port injection cut outs, but if
you just need the bottom end, it should work
with few changes, check the oil pan, and make
sure there is a crank position sensor, if not, swap
out your old ones, also check to see if the pan is
the same shape, you might need to change it
anyway.

here i go:

yes, the blocks are identical, G16B blocks were used in the esteem, aero and vitara.
The G16A is the 8v monopoint injection from early vitaras, or swifts 1.6 16valve mùonopoint injection. so for those who wonder, you can fit head of a 16valve monopoint swift engine, on a 8 valve monopoint vitara block ;)
