Bronco2 coils and sammi t-cases....
« on: June 21, 2005, 01:14:34 PM »
Cut down some Bronco2 front coils, took off about 1 1/4 turns off the top, where the pigtail is. Rides a little better, flex is about the same, I don't know if it will COMPLETELY stuff or not, havn't found a nice enough ditch to flex it out on. Only problem is on the pass side, the coils rub the bumpstop when flexing, on the backside towards the frame. So I either have to modify the bumpstop a bit, or back to stock w/ the spacer.

I FIANLLY got the sammi case in!!! Top speed is about 65 |removethispart|@ 4300 rpms!  ;D

Still needs some polishing up, and has a weird nopise coming from the back of the tranny. Kinda like if you where to hold a piece of metal lightly against a benchtop grinder, and it makes the tinging noise. Really odd noise. But it runs good, sits a smidge lower in the front (Alignment is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off now!  :D), and rides a little better.

Sounds like a cool set up.

Bronco II coils in the front?  What bump stop are they rubbing?  My explorer coils rub the axle shaft on occation when it flexes.

Are you still stock location on the lower arms?

What was your design for getting the Sammy T-case in.

~~~  Sorry If this was covered earlier and I missed it~~~~
Workin on the pics!!
They are rubbing the stock bumpstops, the little tower that's inside of the coils. Arms are still in stock location.
Design was 2wd kick tranny, cut out the stock crossmember that runs frame to frame right behind the stock t-case location, and used the stock arm from the sammi tcase for the drivers mount, and fabbed up a new mount on the pass side using L-channel steel. I don't care for the drivers side mount, and if the set up fails, it will be there. Used a 85 toyota PU front drive shjaft for the rear shaft, and fabbed up a new one for the front, and cut the rear D-shaft from a 2wd down to about an inch long for the intermediate shaft.  ;D
Needs some more beef on the mounts, but that is it!
Well, I cut about 1.5" off the top, and the front actually sits a bit LOWER then the 2" lift coil spacers I had on before w/ the stock coils. Angles not bad, but gets nasty when I flex!!  :D
