mounting problems...may have to sell soon
« on: December 20, 2006, 12:26:36 PM »
So ok i already posted that the Tranny is making a growling (light grinding) noise in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear.  You guys told me what it may be and it turns out that's right...i can fix that.

But last year the Transfer case pooped out...again, i can fix that too.  It's a bit costly but not uber hard to do.

The A/C inlet (tube) snapped off and it's $100 to replace...that was a bitch to get off but it's off...but now it turns out they don't make it anymore.  Now i need a custom one.

ok, so now the nail in the coffin.....my poor baby is just going to crap.  I'm stressing out.

The "brakes" light (brake light, on speedo cluster) comes on any time i take a left turn.  What the heck does that mean?  My brakes are 100% perfect.  And this just started recently.  I'm thinking it has something to do with my Tranny problems...since this started at about the same time.  But what would be the connection?
any help guys?

brake light flashing on only left turns and a worn lower tranny bearing?
makes no sense.  I love my tracker but if it continues to get any worse than this...it's going to have to be sold to someone that's got alot of time and willingness to fix everything that's wrong.

is it the parking brake light?  mine was doing this after adding a 2.25inch rear lift and having really finished shoes on the right rear drum from being full of shit, so anyway, turning left gave me this problem until i changed the shoes in back.

Add some brake fluid, that is all.

brake fluid is fine too.  I guess i should have mentioned that too.  Trust me i'm not that dumb...that was my first thought, to check the fluid.  when it was full i started to panic.

I think bzzr2 may be on to something.  I'm almost positive i need new rear brakes.  I've had my kick for about 3 1/2 years and changed the front pads twice.  The drum shoes...never.

You said it only does it on left turns, it could only be one of two things, the float in the master cylinder or a loose wire that hooks to your parking brake lever inside the rig, pull the boot up on it and look in there, there should be a switrch, real simple stuff.

i thought mine was a problem with the wires for the parking brake in the console after doing the body lift, i didn't find anything there but it is worth the look.  in my case the rear right drum front shoe was finished, never came back on since changing shoes..  have a look in those drums and i'd check the wires too.

changed...The drum shoes...never.
Usually you can tell if your drum shoes are warn because your parking brake stops holding.

Chances are that your rear brake lines are so full of air that they're hardly being used.  Try bleeding the brake lines.
