Door Trigger Mystery Problem. Can you help?
« on: December 03, 2006, 09:18:57 PM »
alright I finally found out whats been making my music die out

whenever the drivers door is open the music is great

then when it closes (even on that first click... the one that just holds the door
but keeps the dome light on) the drivers side speaker goes out and music is halved

so its something with the door trigger?

does any of this make sense?
why would it do this?
how can I fix it?

your speaker wires to that door are grounding out your deck or amp and that will cause the amp to short out and not play. check where your wires go thru from the door to the body for any shorts .

well... it still plays but it gets loud up to half dial
then it gets super soft after that (kinda dies out to soft)
I dont have any wires in the door or anything (no power w/l/m, speakers in stock dash location)
so I figged it was the door trigger
any thoughts?

what does your system consist of? deck amps etc. i would start by disconecting that one speaker and see if you still have problems. you could also try changing grounds for your components and power sources - try running power right from the battery to your deck and amp etc. if you turn the dome light off with the switch on the light does that make a difference? electrical goblins are hard to chase down over the internet but hopefully we can help.
