Bought a pair of XL-7's (one to keep one to resell)
« on: September 18, 2006, 10:27:47 AM »
I bought (2) GV XL-7's this Sunday.

2002 4wd with 73K ~ With Engine noise.

2004  2wd Totaled but runs well with super low miles.

2002 GV XL-7 Story:
Origianlly the dealer said bad Tensioner.  They replaced the tensioner, chain, guides, and other related parts under warranty, but the noise didn't go away.  Upon tear down (Pull engine and remove oil pan) The cause is determined to be that the bad tensioner caused a loose chain which broke a guide.  When the guide broke, debris fell into the oil pump and blocked open the high pressure valve causing there to be low oil pressure leading to improper lubrication causing rod failure.

2004 GV XL-7 Story:
Totaled / No title / Sold for parts.  Hit Hard up front front clip and scraped down the drivers side.  Good engine, Good 2wd Trans, Good Rear, Good passenger side, Great tan interroir.

Would be a great cantidate for a Tube Clip and 4-link front and rear on full width 1/2 ton axles and a Samurai 6:1 T-case.   Repair the damaged 73 K engine (was running fine upon removal, but low oil PSI bearing noise) Or drop in a 4.3L Vortec package from an S-10.   Looking to Re-sell once engine is out.  Taking Offers
