4x4 problems

went to go to work today and my driveway was all ice and couldnt get out so i got out and locked my hubs in put it in 4x4 the light came on but my front tire wasnt spinning tried high and low. one of the hubs u could kinda feel it lock in  but the other u couldnt it would just turn back and forth could this be my problem? also if it is will the manual hub of an 89 fit on my 93 and id it abig job to change? any help would be great

You may just have to clean out the hub. (you said you had manual hubs, right?)
Sometimes (it did for me) gets full of Gunk or lack of grease and the
spring sticks.

if they are frozen will they still turn freely?

The mechanism that engages the locker is spring-loaded.  If that mechanism is full of dirt, a mixture of dirt and grease or frozen water, the spring loading won't release and the axle shaft will not engage with the hub when you turn the locking knob.

A good cleaning up will usually sove the problem.  Do a search for locking hub at Ack's FAQ (link in sig below) for info on how to rebuild/clean your Asin locking hubs.

You can swap hubs between Samurais as they had the same locking hubs thoughout their US production run. 

Such is not the always case between Samurais and TracKicks as there is a slight difference between the locking hubs for each type of vehicle.

yea i had the same problem when i first got my sidekick so all i did was take the hubs apart and clean them with a wire brush and some pb blaster and i havent had a problem since
