Need help on transfer case/driveshaft "99" 4x4 Tracker
« on: March 20, 2007, 11:38:14 AM »
-1999 4dr 4X4 Chevy Tracker-
My g/f rear ended another car at 10 MPH,the air bag didn't deploy, but it messed up the drive shaft going of the transfer case going towards the rear axle and had it towed cu it wouldn't drive. I'm a newbie, but if someone can look at the pic (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y138/toddinav/DRIVESHAFT.jpg)    and give me there opinion, Thank you very much.

WOW!  Only 10 mph you said??!
Looks to me like the transfer case housing is broken off.
I would check to see what elso moved in the suspension to do that kind of damage!
Definetly need a t-case, check www.car-parts.com and sort it by the closest to your zip/postalcode for a used one.

Thanks lowrezolution...i guess i will need to get a " Yoke " and U-joint....???. I too had a hard time believing the "rear end |removethispart|@ 10 MPH" but the other car she rear ended was the S.S. 1966 Ford Galaxy..boat of a car! The previous owner really spent alot of time off- road in the Tracker, so maybe it was already broken .
