Stock Carb. CFM rating
« on: May 14, 2007, 11:46:16 AM »
I was wondering what the cfm rating was on the 2 barrel carbs on a 87 samurai with 1.3 liter? I am working on a propane conversion after dealing with carb problem on and off for a year. I was considering a 1.6 swap but the 1.3 has been too good for me, and in reality I dont need much more power. So any help would be apreciated :]

Thanks in advance :D

Can't say for sure, but would estimate it around 250cfm...
How tough was the propane conversion? I have been thinking about doing one on mine, but don't know much about it. Any info you could give would be greatly apreciated(feel free to pm or email me)!

Hey there gents. I was thinking of it asweel, but I allready rebuilt my engine :(!!!!  so anyways, this is the site that i have found has the kit, and as far as I know, a monkey should be able to put it together. its all just basically running fuel lines (for propane of course) and u just need to buy a forklift tank ( have a few at every junk yard, and real cheap too)  then you start it. once again all this is to the best of my knowledge, no personal experiance, but I've heard good things.

propane conversion is my next planned modification,  I'm gonna wheel it the way it is right now for another year, my carb runs perfect, even if i am completely tipped on my side,  but the problem with being on my side is all of my gasoline leaks out, and i don't like that.  theres a place on the internet that has the sammurai kits minus the tank, for 799 bux,  just look up  gotpropane.com  and you'll find it,  as far as I know from talking to a few guys that have done it,  if you peice the kit together yourself,  it's alot cheaper,  the most expensive part as far as I know is getting the carb spacer machined,   If you know anybody that works at a fork lift service shop,  or if there is one nearby,  go talk to them,  they'll be able to tell you everything you need to know to put it together yourself,  if you have time,  every guy that is in my club that has done it,  loves it,  good luck

I dug around and I have all the  major parts laying around the shop. I just need the hoses and have some wiring work I'll have to do. My dad has been doing propane conversions on his vehicles since the 70's. So he collected alot of parts in that time and can really help me out in the converion. Currently we have 3 vehicles running on propane. 83 1 ton chevy witha 454, 65 Chevy K20 running a 350, and a Samurai with 1.3 liter all on propane. I helped with the othe samurai, but it uses the stock carb with a mixer on top of it, giving it dual fuel. I am doing away with the carb altogether and going to a larger single barrel propane carb.

I'll post up pics of the conversion and maybe a write up with parts I used to convert it. I should have it fixed up pretty soon, maybe before the end of the month, depend on how busy we are at work.
