Help with '96 Tracker upgrade path
« on: May 28, 2007, 01:22:14 PM »
I have a 1996 4 door kick. 80% daily driver, 20% off road. I'll be on a lot of fire roads, some rock crawling & using it for ski trips (snow / ice). What do you all think of my upgrade path (listed more or less in order)?

Stage 1:
Remove sway bar?
Cold air intake
Coil spacers (going for 1.5" of lift)
Strut flip & Crown Vic shocks
29 / 30" MT tires (not committed to brand yet)
Body carving as necessary
Home brew rocker, skid plate, front & rear bumpers
2 1/4" exhaust & V6 style muffler (high flow, but still quiet)
8000lb winch
Locker rear (Don't have money for selectable, so welded or lockrite?)

Stage 2:
Longer springs (still not sure what's available)
OME struts & ??? in the back
32 / 33" tires
Cutting if necessary
Toyota CV's (what years work?)
Locker front
Small (4lb / maybe subaru?) intercooled turbo (mostly to get freeway & uphill power back), or clutch activated supercharger (prefer this, but don't know where to get one)
If I abandon the turbo idea, I'd consider a diesel, but they're EXPENSIVE.
