new clutch time?

new clutch time?

So I sold one of 1995 trackers only to have my one existing one starting to act up.  It's making a low, and subtle winding / grinding noise when driving in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  But is quiet as a mouse in 4th and 5th.  The car runs fine and strong, the shifting is smooth and flawless...just making those new noises in those first 3 gears.

Is my Zuk telling me it's time for a clutch job?

Sounds like it might be bad bearings in the tranny.

Is that going to cost me big $$$ or about the same as a clutch repair.  And if it is going to cost a buttload of $$$ would it be smarter/cheaper to buy another tranny from like Hawk?

I can't imagine it'e 1000's of dollars to fix...but it's the difference between me getting fixed and then driving it cross country (if it's a resonable cost to fix)....or having it put on a truck and transported (and save to get it fixed later).

CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL!!!

I had a similar thing happen to mine, and when i checked the fluid level, it was 1.5qts low.  I later discovered (this past sunday) that it was my tranny output seal that was leaking and the fluid was going out there.

From what i've heard, this problem is from the tranny input bearing.  The noise goes away when you put your foot in on the clutch?

   A bearing job for the trany is not very expensive,and not very hard to do.A chiltons and a few tools and u are there

thank god, i'll fix it then.  And yeah that was my first suspect Mike.  So i did a fluid change...problem was still there.
