New here with my first sammy!

Hey everyone!! I just got my first sammy its an 87. I have to tell you i love the thing already!! When i get a chance ill get some pics on here of it. I have a few questions.

I have never had a 4WD before so the front suspension is a little different to me than 2wd stuff. This sammy is making some noise out of the right front wheel so i took it to my mechanic friend and he told me that the wheels bearings are going out. Is this a common problem?? Is it pretty easy to change out the front bearings? Is there anything i should know before i tear into this thing? Is there anything special that i have to do when im taking off the hub locking units? or will they just unbolt from the hub and slide off?? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

P.S. anyone got a heater temp control valve?? the one on this thing is no good .

Welcome aboard.
I can't help you, I have a Tracker ;D
But must wheel bearings aren't really that hard if you have some wrenching experience ;)

The bearings on both of my sammys have over a 100 k on them,if you do a lot of water crossings I would go with the blue lithieum boat grease in them, for tools I use a pair of ring pliers for the hub clip and a 2" socket for the hub nut's, if the spindle is chewed up it should be cheap to replace just call trail tough or one of the other venders just ask for a good used one! welcome aboard.
