Crushers Trail of the Tillamook State Forest Receives Special Grant
Jul 12, 2007 By: Press Release
PORTLAND, Ore. – July 7, 2007 – The Crushers Trail, located in the Coast Range mountains of northwest Oregon in the Tillamook State Forest, was honored today by BFGoodrich® Tires as one of the 2007 Outstanding Trails. Club members and off-road enthusiasts were in attendance as BFGoodrich Tires presented a grant to Raven Off-Road OHV club, which will be used to preserve the trail and continue conservation efforts for one of America’s best areas for off-roading.
BFGoodrich Tires, working in conjunction with Tread Lightly!® and United Four Wheel Drive Associations (UFWDA), chose the Crushers Trail as one of the 2007 Outstanding Trails because of its particularly rocky, steep and rugged terrain. It is a natural formed boulder field and is the only trail in the Tillamook State Forest that off-roaders will experience nothing but rock terrain. The trail is perfectly suited for the off-road enthusiast who is always up for a challenge.
“We couldn’t pass up the setting at Crushers trail and it was an easy decision to make it a part of the 2007 Outstanding Trails program, said Joe Mazur, light-truck brand category manager for BFGoodrich Tires. “Off-roading is the heart and soul of BFGoodrich Tires, and we are delighted to team up with groups like the Raven Off-Road OHV club to ensure that trails like these will continue to stay beautiful and safe for future visitors.
Incorporated in 2003, Raven Off-Road OHV Club was started to pursue the interest of the OHV community in a new way. The club is based on the love of the OHV experience regardless of the type of vehicle enthusiasts choose to off-road with. Members pride themselves on giving back to the community that they live in by donating time and funds to help clean up dump sites and adopt families and community areas. Raven Off-Road is a family driven club, always remembering that today's child is tomorrow's future, and by teaching them now, they are preserving the way of life for generations to come.
“With the help of BFGoodrich Tires Outstanding Trails program, we will be able to improve the conditions of trails much faster than previously thought, said Johanna Ebert, president of Raven Off-Road. “If it were not for sponsors like BFGoodrich Tires, UFWDA and Tread Lightly!, it would take so long to finish projects and would be very difficult to maintain the trail properly.
