D'oh! transmission in my other kick grinds now- questions
« on: August 18, 2007, 09:26:12 PM »
Well the same thing that the other kick i sold a while back is now happening to my DD 1995.  It grinds/whines in 1st, 2nd, & 3rd.  Thanks to help from you guys i was able to properly diagnose the problem and the guy that bought my other one was able to fix it no problem.

But now the one i kept is doing the same thing.  I talked to a repair shop and the guy said it's really complicated to fix that bearing and i should just get another tranny nad he'll replace it.  Now I was told by my fellow zuki gurus on here it was a fairly easy fix for a tranny shop.  Is this guy just F'in lazy, stupid or trying to rip me off?
And secondly do you guys think my auto hubs are causing this to happen in my trannies?  I've NEVER had this problem in any of my past trackkicks before.  And they all had the manual hubs.  But my last 2 both had this problem and both had auto locking hubs.

The hubs have no effect on the transmission since they are divided by the transfer case. The only way I see the hubs tearing up stuff in the drivetrain if they came unlocked and relocked under a load and shocked the system. I would think you could find a good used trans cheaper than having it rebuilt. At least around here that would be the case.
