Sammy rims on a Kick
« on: August 18, 2007, 11:44:37 PM »
So I decided not to get the Ford rims and 31" tire package I was looking at this weekend, but I found another sweet deal on some Samurai rims...I just need to know if I can safely run 31x10.50's on these rims:

And I was also wondering if the Samurai rims stick out more than Sidekick rims, because I wouldn't mind a wider stance for some added stability.
97 Sidekick 4door 5 speed, 1.5 spacer lift, 2" body lift, CJ rims, locked rear, 31's, 4:1 low <SOLD>
01 Vitara 2.0L 5 speed, 2.5" Calmini lift, 2" body lift, Sidekick rims, locked rear, 31's, 4:1 low, 5.13 diffs <SOLD>
03 XL7 2.7 5 speed, 4.5" AE lift with OME springs, 2" AE body lift, 5.13 diffs, 3:1 low, 235/80R17 BFG AT's on Ultra 17x8 with 1" spacers, skid plates, Balmer Fab front bumper

If you want a little more space without buying offset rims you can pick up a set of spacers off of E-Bay or from Spidertrax.

However, someone posted a line yesterday to some Craiger wheels for only 31 apiece that included free shipping from Summit with custom offset available.  You might want to look at those if you want the extra off-set.

A 31x10.5" tyre needs a rim width of 7-9", the Sammy rim is only 5.5". I would not recommend this combination. The Sammy has 3 3/4" backspacing, the Track/Kick has 4.3" of backspacing. If you have 5.5" rims then the rim will stick out about 1/2" further.

Ya I posted that thread bout the Cragar wheels...they are 37 a piece.  They have 4in of backspacing...should that be good enough to run my 31s without rubbing??

The Kragar rims are only 0.3" more backspacing than a stock Sidekick rim

If they are an actual 4" that should be more then enough.  I run 3.5" with 33x12.5" tires without rubbing on the frame.
