I was talking about my Tracker at work with some friends and one guy says "I got some Dana 60's". Now I dont plan on using the 60's for a sas but I could sell or trade them for some toy axles. I asked him how much he wanted for them, he thinks for a minute and says "you can have em for both for $150"!!!!! In a milisecond I shout SOLD!!! Just then another guy says "Ive got a rear Ford 9" free to a good home". I throw my hand up in the air and said Ill take it. He told me he would bring it out to my house just to get rid of it!!

Though, what year D60 front and rear axles, which platform, drum/disc brakes, closed/open knuckles, gear ratio/locker, manual/auto lockouts, ball joint versus king pin, etc. are all things to consider before picking up some paper weight. Same for that 9".

Gotta ask, those you were talking to, are they knowledgeable in the topic? Would they know what a D60 is in comparison to anything else? Cause, if they did, is the low cost a red flag?

However, if it does turn out to be a rose, then look forward to $800-1200 for the front D60, $75-150 for the rear D60, $100 for the 9". If you spent some money on degreasing, clean up and rebuild, you could push for another $300-500. Then all this also depends on your location.  Good luck.

The D60's came from a 3/4 ton ramcharger. They have manual hubs ,4.10 gears and supposedly the rear is a full floater. The front is disc and rear drums. The guy bought a ramcharger with no motor or trans and a bad body. He had a truck he could use the axles in , but he sold it and they have been in his way for about 2 years now. The 9" I know nothing about except it is a freebe. Do you know what kind of transfer case came in a 3/4 ton dodge?Maybe something good for a swap meet?

I had a guy try and sell me a "pair of D60's" out of a 3/4 ton Ramcharger too. I did buy them, even though they ended up being a D60 rear, an 8 bolt D44 front. Had a 4spd np435 trans, and a np203(fulltime, chain driven) t-case too. Bought the whole bunch for $100.

Piece of advice - Learn what a D60 looks like before you go look at it. I saw the D44 and thought it was a 60 (never actually seen one not under a rig before), until my buddy asked where the 60 front was.

What, you can't just go compare it to the one under your tow rig?  

Nice catch on the axels though.  Time to build a full width buggy or just chop the axels down a bit to give your sammy the ability to run 44's?

The easiest way to tell d60 is it has 4" diameter locking hubs. I found a excellent site for d60 identification.
