I'ld try my connections at the soleniod, usually you'll get the clicky when the starter's not getting enough juice.  I'ld go back to what you worked on last and go from there.  Also how old is your battery and is it fully charged?  Check it if you don't know.

AND NOT BY LICKING THE TERMINALS!!

I'm not sure about kicks but the samurai is notorius for this. as far as I know the wire coming from ignition switch get degraded enough that it wont carry the current needed to activate the solenoid. The solution most people use is to put a high current relay inline with said wire. Like a ford starter solenoid. You can also use a bosch 30 amp relay. Do a search for clicky starter fix on most sami forums and you should be able to find what I am talking about.

Some SUPER short yet simple instructions,

*disclaimer*  I make no claims for these instructions.   They are just a quick recount of what I did.
Please consult with your local electricial codes before attempting.  :)

*end disclaimer*

This recipie will need;
4, pieces of wire ~4 feet long, 12 guage preferred.
1, 20 amp, 4 leg relay
dozen medium sized, male and female, spade connectors for 12 guage wire.
(you may want them 'water proof' [filled with electricians greese])
eyelet for 12 guage wire to go onto battery.
eyelet for 12 guage wire to be used with a sheetmetal screw to use for ground.
selftaping sheetmetal screw.
inline fuse (20 amp)

possibly want to get a soldiering iron, some electricians tape, zip ties, and wire loom and other 'best practices' wiring 'stuff'.

0) mount relay under hood of truck, close to battery and starter.
(We used an existing relay bracket between the battery and the wiper fluid reservior)

1) unplug the starter activation wire from starter.
(should be a small female spade plug on top of the starter)

plug this wire into appropriate spot on relay.  (You may need to make an extension wire with a male spade plug to plug into the existing starter wire and a female spade plug to relocate the relay onto the firewall or where every)

2) ground relay;
(make ground wire wire with female spade plug on one end, small eyelet on other end.)

plug this wire into appropriate spot on relay, ground other end with self taping screw.  (be sure to get to bare metal)

3) power relay from battery;
(make power wire with female spade plug on one end, big eyelet on the other end.

plug power wire into appropriate slot on relay, stick eyelet onto battery.
(You may want to put an inline fuse in this segment closest to the battery for that just-in-case incident)

4) wire up starter;
(make wire with 2 female spade connectors to run from relay to starter)

plug starter wire from relay to starter.

This will provide additional current to starter via the relay which is now activated via the key switch inside trucklet.

Of course please follow the wiring diagram on the relay.

OR you could BUY a 'clickey starter kit' for sammies from places like Trail Tough, they work JUST the same on our kicks. and I think they are about $25 bucks.

Good luck
~Nate

30 Amp is the rating it can take,
not what it uses, bigger is fine,
too small can fry like 30 Amps
thru a 15 Amp Relay = Poof
;)

The instructions are on the relay,
printed in the plactic on the bottom
or side, depending on who made it

it will have #s like 30 and uhh what others
??? I forget, but it shows pics on the relay
and that tells you how to wire it up, 2 pins
will have a pic of a spiral, this is the electric
magnet, which turns on the relay, the other
2 are the "load" which goes to the thing
you want to turn on, this way a little switch
can turn on a big power load item, like winches
and big lights etc. .....
