2.5 oil problems
« on: November 12, 2007, 12:32:33 PM »
I have a 2.5 with oil coming out of the tail pipe. I have taken the heads off and do not find any thing wrong yet. Any help with possible causes of this would be great ??? I replaced the timing chain and it was fine for a month and then this started.

Are you sure it's oil? Is it blowing blue smoke at all? It might be water with carbon dripping out from either condensation or water crossings...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...

X2.  Water condensation can actually be a sign of a good running, clean combustion engine.  My 2.5 does that, and makes the exhaust rust out.

I am sure it is oil, it used four quarts in one hundred and forty miles, oil is coming out of the rear tail pipe. Spark plugs are not oil soaked. I am at a loss on this one. Their is no metal pieces in the oil , no oil in the antifreeze or no antifreeze in the oil. It runs ok but smokes a lot

Sounds like it could be a broken oil ring, I have seen it before.
