See this is the debate I've been having
I work in a service dept. for a large GM dealership. Everything I read about the 3-speed trans. says 4.30, when I pulled mine out for the 5.12's out of a 5-speed and counted revolutions I came up with 4.30. Yet no one seems to know of this. I mean it makes sense as the 4-speed has an overdrive and the 3-speed doesn't right?
If you go to car-parts.com and ask for a third member for a 95 tracker it asks 4.30, 4.62, or 5.12 if you look it up for a sidekick it shows 16v auto 2dr with 4.30, 2dr 8v auto 4.62, 2dr manual 5.13, and 4dr 5.13 what gives? my truck is a 2dr 3-speed 16v that now has 5.12's in place of what I think were 4.30's how come no one agrees
I'm confused. The specs you quote from car-parts.com say the 2dr 16v auto has 4.30s and that's what you think you pulled out of your Tracker so they do agree, or am I not reading that correctly

I've read on other sites that my 2dr 8v auto (3-spd) has 4.62s, which matches your quote.
I think it's reasonable that a 5-spd manual and a 4-spd auto have the 5.12s cause they have the overdrive (and less than 1:1 trans ratio).
The 16v 2dr auto (which I assume is a 3-spd) is a little surprising. I would have thought that with a little more HP (than the 8v) it could have run a lower gear than the 8v's 4.62. Maybe they needed the higher gear (4.30) to help with MPG requirements

So, back to the original post... do you have any specs on overall length of these transmissions, driveshafts, etc. or any other fitment info?
