I started keeping and using fuel treatment

Thats what I just started doing as well. I think I might try switching my station as well.

Interesting enough though, was my PCV was not really in bad shape. It was very oily, but the ball was loose and shook just like the new one.

The first time I had changed my fuel filter I got gas all in my eye. It took so darn long because I was at the 'ol eye wash station for 25 minutes. No damage to the eye, but lets just say I'm a lot quicker with a rag than I used to be!

I just had laser surgery after 40 years of wearing glasses.  The only good thing about wearing glasses (besides being able to see of course) was that my eyes were somewhat protected from things like that.  Right before I had my surgery, I bought two pair of safety glasses and I make sure I use them every time I work on the car.  It seems just about every time I worked on cars, I would get something (dirt, oil, whatever I was spraying) on my glasses.  Now the same happens with my safety glasses.

If anyone out there doesn't have safety glasses, I encourage you to get some and use them.

BTW, did you remove the cap on the gas tank before you loosened the bolts on the fuel filter?  When I changed mine today, the fuel dripped out and splashed a very little on the rear, but wasn't really all over the place.

You'd think after a couple trips to the emergency room to have debris removed from my eyes I'd get smart and wear safety glasses, eh? ;D
