'87 Samurai trouble/warning lights
« on: June 11, 2008, 03:06:19 AM »
Hello, new member here, glad to have found this site. I just got an '87 Samurai a couple months ago (yea!) and haven't had any mechanical problems until now. On the dash where the turn signal indicators, high-beam indicator and seatbelt lights are there is a light that says sensor, and it's been coming on the last couple days. I have the repair manual, but no where does it cover the warning lights. I'm assuming that info is in the owner's manual, which I do not have.
Which sensor is it referring to? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance>

Is it running any different?  Or did the light just start coming on?

I figured it out, apparently the little switch under the dash does have a purpose. It's a reset switch for the check engine light, which is what the 'sensor' light is. I flipped it the other way and poof! no more flashing light.

From what i have read the light comes on every certain amount of miles for service reminder, and that switch is to reset it/turn it off.

When i got my sami, i pulled the gauges out and found that the owner before me didn't know about that little switch...so they just put some black tape over the light.
