best way to drian fuel from fuel lines?

so i've taken the fuel tank out, and i'm about ready to cut the original mounts off with the grinder....

.....but....

..... there is still a whole heap of fuel in the fuel lines.

how can i drain the fuel out with out making a complete mess of the place.

i figure, grinding and cutting metal with the grinder = sparks, lots of sparks.

and with fuel very close, maybe its not such a good idea.

can i just take the hoses off the fuel pump and use my air compressor to blow the fuel back out? maybe with a very low pressure?

then if it works, and i get the fuel out, can i just hose the area down with water and start cutting?

If there rubber lines stuff a bolt in them and if you want put a clamp on it also, if it is a metal line take short piece of hose and stuff a bolt in it.

gas is not really all that easy to ignite ( flood your carb and see the truth ) , BUT FUMES WILL EXPLODE  :o Always best to be safe as possible. Put a wet cloth over anything you might worry about.  Water on the floor is good if you are using an air grinder...bad idea if using electric grinder.  Proper fire extinguisher  for sure and perhaps a fire suit. Heck just dial 911 before you start.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously though, we have all done some grinding near gas tank and lines. If fuel is not directly exposed to spark and flame or excess heat, you should be ok. Put a damp rag (with a retreval string attached) in the gas filler neck and put the cap back on. Wait for all fumes to blow away. FUMES are the real danger.  Let us know when all is done.......Gary
