Okay, so I just bought a 96 2 door softtop tracker last week. The reason I bought it is I have four young kids who can't all ride on the quad with me, so I'm looking at this as a trail runner/quad replacement for the family. Three of the kids are 3 year old triplet boys so there's plenty of room in the back for them I just need more seat belts.
Now the theme here is a low-budget build and not get carried away with extras. I just want to make it more capable off road and safer (safety cage). I already ordered rocky-road's 2" body lift and 1" coil spacers. I found a great deal on some 29"x9.5" tires. Can the tracker handle this with the body lift and will it have enough power, the car is an automatic. Will I want the suspension lift also or is the body lift enough? Any problems with this particular lift?
Does anyone make a decent inside the car roll cage that covers the rear seats? The only thing I've found is a calmini front cage. I'm not going to do any aggresive off-roading until I feel the kids are safer in the vehicle. I don't want to go full bore rockcrawler with lockers etc, but may down the road add a bumper/winch/skidplates. Right now I'm thinking some ground clearance and roll bar and this would be pretty capable on the trails.
What am I overlooking? Thanks for the replies guys. I'm located in Utah so it's mostly mountain trails and the sand dunes are only a mile away.
