After owning 3 samurai's, and SJ410 and a 4-door tracker (and driving several 2-door trackers), I have to say my favorite is the Tracker / Sidekick. Just about everything about it is better. Unless you're going with BIG tires & lift, I think the Tracker / Sidekick is just a better vehicle (and arguably better even with a big lift & tires). Better power, better MPG, more room, better stability, better ride quality, WAY better road manners... and they tend to be cheaper these days. In my experience they're more reliable too (important in a DD). Off road, the tracker seems more stable. Because of the coil suspension & IFS, it's MUCH better to drive on fire roads, light-duty trails & sand. There's also a lot of after-market support for the Kicks now - tough the Samurai still has better (cheaper, and more of it) after-market support. The kick just feels more quality as well. It's clearly benefited greatly from modern engineering.
The right hand drive has a certain "cool factor" for sure. And, I do like the looks & simplicity of the Samurai. Either way, Suzuki's are fantastic, cheap & easy to work on. Good luck with your build, and get us lots of pics.
