LOCKED DOORS!
« on: August 27, 2004, 01:05:30 PM »
A topic awhile back on "Do you lock your doors ?" got me to thinking, with a rag top it just keeps an honest person honest right? Well till I get my sheet metal top built I thought I'd go one step futher. With the extra roll bars and spare mounted in back it would be kinda hard to unsnap the top and climb into the front without attracting a lot of attention ,also hard to reach the door lock lever. But the door can be jimmied open,so I installed some door light switches out of the old Toyota parts truck with a keyed switch and fused link direct to the battery, all of this triggers a 140db siren if the doors are opened without disarming the system with the keyed switch( Im sure I'll scare the crap outta myself a couple of times when I get in at about 4:00am one morning and forget to disarm it ) But ya gotta protect yer stuff!         Later  M.Z.
Now thats stress relief 4X4!                  MUTANT ZUK

Yeah its a electrical switch that a key operates on or off and locks in that position.Radio Shack used to carry them but have discontinued them (like a lot of other stuff in their store .They are starting to SUCK as far as their inventory is concerned) I made mine with a cabinet lock, toggle switch, spring loaded trip rod,and mounted it on an aluminum bracket. It works.  M.Z.

My cousin just parks his truck inside a fence with a huge rottweiler... So far nobody has attempted a break in...  ;D
