Idle fluctuation on '94 TBI Samurai
« on: May 25, 2009, 06:30:28 PM »
Guys, I'm at my wits end.  I just bought a rock crawling buggy based on a '94 Sammy.  As the engine warms up and after it's warm the idle fluctuates wildly and will die unless I keep it idled up.  I noticed today that the idle smoothes out when I'm pointed up an incline.  What could be doing this?  The previous owner said it started doing this after the battery slowly died from leaving the key on and that it would clear up when the computer relearned what it was supposed to do, but after days of driving it, that hasn't happened.

Any suggestions?

I figured it out, Guys!!  I was messin' around with things around the throttle body and I pinched off the vacuum line going to the fuel pressure regulator and the idle smoothed out and it ran just fine.  I then pulled the vacuum line off and notice gas spraying from the vacuum line connection.  It looks like the problem was a busted diaphram in the FPR.  I'll just replace the FPR and everything should be just peachy.

Easy fix.  :)

I was going to say that my carb did that before it plugged up completely so it might be a fuel line or dirty carp issue.  :P
